I've talked to some WW2 reenactors who buy and use a lot of 303B, 30-06, 7.62x54R, and 8x57mm blanks. They said the golden age of surplus blanks for $.25 is over and they are stuck paying $1.25-$2 a shot for modern blanks. I don't know if they would use wooden bullets though as there is still something firing out. They use mostly crimped brass blanks I believe.
