8mm mauser short case length

Hi guys!

i have some NEW 8mm mauser cases measured 2.195" in length, and some other measured 2.231". you can tell the difference with your bare eyes.

now my question is, can i reload the shorter cases (2.195") and shoot them SAFELY?

btw, from the Lee reloading guide, the maximum case trim length is 2.24"

I don't see why not as long as the bullet stays put.

I dont' see this as being an issue unless you plan on crimping. I had some 270win. that was too short because it was formed from 30.06 .

The 270 made from 30-06 come out something like .100" shorter. But they work just fine and they will soon grow, anyway.

Just go ahead, load them up and shoot them. No problem!
