Chargers for Mauser rifles happen to be ACTION-SPECIFIC: they go by ACTION and not by CARTRIDGE.
Thus, ammo for a "7.65mm Mauser" may be packed in chargers to fit an 1889, 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893 or 1898 action, depending on what rifle the troops were using. A Charger for one of the older models was much too wide to fit the guides machined into the Receiver of the more-common 1898 action. In a reverse situation, chargers to fit a 98 action would be very loose in one of the older actions, giving rise to issues of reliability.
Chargers most commonly sought are those which fit the regular 98 action (most common) and those which fit the Swedish Model 96 and 38 rifles..... which are scarce. They do NOT interchange.
The 8mm ammunition originating in Yugoslavia, sold here in huge quantity during the past 40 years, is packed in standard 98 -type chargers.
