hows it going? i just bought a k98 mauser and was wondering if its the j style bore .318 or if its the js style .323 i know they changed to the js bore in 1905 but it has no date stamping on it anyways plz let me thx in advance

Is it a Yugo or Russian refurb? If it is then JS fo-sho.
It would have a date on it if it is anything else.

If it is a K98, it will be .323 for sure. Are there any markings on it? (Manufacturer or proof marks, waffens?)

I believe the last mausers bored .318 where the 88's, well before your 98. Anyone who knows better correct me if I'm wrong, I'm running on memory here.

Well it should have a date then......unless it's a scrubbed Yugo or Russian refurb. But the bore will be .323 so no worries.

That is a WW2 German manufacturer code so you are good to go.....

The only .318 K98's would be pre-WW2 Oberndorf factory sporters made while the Versailles treaty was in effect.

The rest were Drillings and Gew88's. In other words - quit worrying and go SHOOT it.

The year stamp is the two digit number on top of the receiver ring by the way, cheers
