Hi all, have a problem. I have some 8mm ammo, head stamp " 8mm MAUS R.P"
I believe it was bought in 1967 or thereabouts. It was given to me with a Spanish 1893 Mauser made in Berlin 1896. Re-barreled in 8mm. Here is the rub, would this ammo be the old 8.57 I? Would hate to shoot the 8X57 JS in it !!
Thanks for help

It will be the .323 diameter stuff and should be OK. It's RP marked, for Remington Peters and is in all liklihood loaded to commercial North American standards for the 8x57.

The North American standard is very light, just to take care of the issues you are worried about.

Thanks for reply, both bullets snug fit. What do you think of the 8x57 Yugo for sale on Lever Arms site?
Bob

Probably a good choice....as stated earlier, North American 8x57 is very light stuff. Yugo surplus or new manufacture will be made as the round was meant to be.

Hi you are quite correct, thanks for the info. Remington advised me the same. I just finally tested it with the old Remington ammo, some new 170gr Rem Core Lokt and some 196gr S&B, all worked perfectly with no signs of high pressure!! I am a happy camper as with it's short barrel will make a great car gun, look out whitetails!

Marstar is here to save the day!!!!! Good on this company for going to the effort of pleasing all the BLEEP gov't lackeys and bringing in this stuff. I hope they make lots of money too!! Thank you Marstar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
