School me on twist ratios and optimum bullet weight and type for the not so popular, but underrated caliber of 8mm.
Not your typical precision rifle, but a question of precision itself.
I have two Husky 648s (8x57) with two different twist ratios. One is the standard 1:9.5 twist and the other is 1:10.5 twist (the lands are also wider then standard).
I know that the 1:9.5 twist will shoot very well with 180 to 220 grain bullets. That is a given. But, what about the 1:10.5 twist? What bullets will suit that rifling? Yes, I know. "Shoot it and find out". Would like to, but I lack the resources (reloading equipment) at the moment... and factory loads are very much limited.
So I am looking for a heads up from someone with experience with 8mm bullets, or even .338 for that matter... Actually, any input of twist rates and bullets will do.
Any takers?
