was loading up some ammo for a range trip today and was looking at my 8mm cast bullets when i saw a 7.62x25mm case on the bench. they where once fired s&b brass that i loaded and fired in my glock 9mm to make some shot shells for 9mm. i decided to put one of the 8mm cast bullets in the fired case and it nicely, accept a little loose. so i decided to put in 2.5gr of trail boss for the 205gr bullet and a slight crimp. i'm gonna try them out and see what happens even though i already know what will.

2 are seated longer, just because. range report to follow!
 
well as expected, most of them tumbled, 2 went it properly. accuracy all over the place at 7 meters.

what i might try doing is making the base larger to make a 200gr 9mm, although they would have to be hand loaded.

if you want 200 grain 9mm let me know..........I have a source......but then we could go 250 grain to if your crazy, not sure if your going to have any room left in the case for powder though........
 
That's an interesting idea, though it would need alot of paper to go from 0.331 to 0.357. I will try it which will be my first paper patch ever.

The bullets are way to long to fit in the Mag so I have to put in each round with the slide open. Any longer and I would have to disassemble the gun and load a round into the barrel then put it back together.

On a side note did you ever get you 9mm bullets working good? I bought the mold and made 50 before the sprue cutter broke (new one on route) and sized at 0.357 with Bens red I didn't notice any leading in my factory glock barrel.
 
That's what I figured with the hand loading. Just curious as to how you're loading your 9mm shotshells? Wonder how cut down 223 brass might function in this application. I know the 223 case head is a touch smaller but just curious if it would be safe to do.

Ah, once the tokarev is fire formed to the glock (it's gun specific) I resize it with a 9mm die and put in a new primer. The load that seems to work good so far is 5gr of tightgroup with a thick piece of cardboard cut to 0.360" discs compressing the powder. Fill the rest with birdshot and cap with a gas check or cardboard.

I might try the 223 brass when I get home. I paper patched 2 8mm bullets last night so I will load them tonight.
 
i believe 20lb printer paper, what ever the normal weight is for printing paper. about 1" long and 5" long i think.
 
based on a VERY quick read on cast boolits in the paper patch section and a couple youtube videos i just dipped the paper in water and wrapped it. once it's dry i cut the paper down so it would fit better in what ever gun i fire it in. then lightly coat the paper in alox and let dry, then size it in my lyman 4500 and load.
 
If you can get these bullets to fly somewhat accurately then I should have no prob patching some lighter .314 bullets up to .330 for use in my 8x56 Steyr Mannlicher.
