Yeah, I can make it up out of 348 Win but it is almost as hard to come by. If you have some you want to go to a good home, even Berdan primed is OK.

Let me know if you have any and we can make some sort of arrangement.

I don't need a lot of it. 20+ would be great but less would work as well. I just want to make up enough so that I can actually shoot the three old girls I have.

The 8x60r Guedes case will work as well and so will the loaded rounds. Getting pretty scarce though.

These old Steyr rifles that were made for Portugal as well as others are phenomenal. Extremely well made but bear the distinction of being the very last rifles built for a world power using black powder cartridges and patched bullets. The Portuguese actually switched to smokeless in these rifles and loaded a very thin skinned steel jacketed round as well. A true transition rifle that embodies features of new and old generation design in a very attractive package.

Now, if I can just find an all matching Krop carbine in VG+ condition, the collection will be complete.

I thought that my Turkish M71/84 in 9.5X60 was the last martial blackpowder chambering, but I could be mistaken.

I don't have any 348 Win I've been trying to sell, but I'll sell you some....

I might have some original, loaded black powder rounds with paper patched bullets. Is there a link to the dimensions of the case and the round so I can double check?

I had a rifle and a calvary carbine I got from an estate that are now sold, but I also have a bag of miscellaneous rounds I'm trying to ID and sell.

Prvi supposedly makes it. Cheap it ain't though. Graf's, Stateside, wants $62.99 per 100. $2.68US each from Buffalo Arms. Not that either helps here. A Prvi dealer might be able to order it for you.

Actually, if you can put up with a short-neck cartridge, you can use 8mm Lebel brass and seat the bullets OUT to proper COAL.

You will need to BEVEL the Rims first in order that the dished boltface of the Krop can handle them.

I have 2 Krops here; one will work (sort-of) without the rims being bevelled, the other absolutely will not: very iffy. BEST to bevel that rim: prevents primer pop-back, anyway!

Lebel round was adapted from the 11mm Krop round, which actually was the Gras round. Just as a matter of interest (not likely to have any of this lying around) you can also neck-down 11mm Vickers AAMG ammo.

Trade-Ex has Lebel brass made by Prvi Partizan. Works fine in my rifles, little bit of rim-bevelling and the Krops like it, too.

Hope this helps.

Thanks George. I have quite a bit of Lebel brass both new, used, original and Ball N. I have reloaded some of the original Berdan primed cases after completely reanealing them of course. Supposedly the old brass has a lot of copper and tin in it. Oh well, I will be shooting paper patched cast lead through it with black powder anyway. The barrel steel is supposedly a softer low carbon blend and again, supposedly won't stand up well to jacketed bullets. Maybe that's why so many of them have washed out bores??

I have one lonely Guedes 8x60r round in may box of cartridges.

I was in the shop today, it's pouring rain and windy, and have an old sizing die that I can open up to the proper taper and neck diameter so I can resize the 348 or other brass. These old girls will be a hoot to shoot again. It likely won't happen until next spring but I am still looking forward to it.

May be a tad ignorant but could you not use 7.62x54 brass like for the 8x56 Hungarian?

I should have read your post a bit closer. You should also read my original post. I am not looking for 8x56R Hungarian. I am looking for 8x56r Kropatschek. Completely different cartridge but from the same era.
