8X57 question

Hello, I just have a quick question for someone who knows whether or not a 8x57 is the same as a 8mm mauser? thanks for your help!

Usually yes. There are 2, the .323 bullet is the modern one, used is just about everything since around WW1.

The early version was called the 8X57J[rimless .318" bore],current version 8x57JS[rimless .323" bore], and both versions for single shots with rimmed cases have an "R" at the end of the designation.IE 8X57JR .318 "or 8X57JRS.323" [S is .323"]spitzgeschoss refering to 154gr spitzer bulles adopted in WWII.The J is a stylized German I standing for infantry.Harold
