About two years ago I bought the long colonial 8x 60 Kropatschek rifle ,now I think about doing some shooting ,the ammo was not available , I got small number of 348 winchester brass and do form it with my homemade reloading die.For bullets I do have the Lee mold .329 cal 205gr. Want to use smokeless powder what would be the best load ? 30 grain???
Does anyone here shoots such a rifle?View attachment 187676View attachment 187677

I have a Krop and reload for it. Lee bullet , 348 cases. I am using 8 m/m lebel dies. This is a neck size only with lebel dies. You have to be careful not to push the shoulder back. Iam using 24 grs of IMR 4198 with WLR primer. Shoots to point of aim at 100m.
Also used black powder which works well as long as I us a pull through to clean every second shoot. Just had mine out last week putting 40 rounds down range. 22 to 24 grs of IMR 4198 works well. A friend of mine uses the same load and won't use anything but 24 grs.

Thank you for the info, 24 gr of powder sounds right ,don't want to owerload this ex black powder gun.
The die I made size the brass close to original case but the 348 brass is a little shorter.
Will need to lube the cast bullets only.

My brass was ordered through Brian Densmore. I paid 2.10 a piece for Jameson brass. Not easy to find. I am going to order some more when he gets back from out west. The normal problem is it is usually out of stock and back ordered. Got lucky last time only 2 weeks. I also use 348 for 41 Swiss.
