Mr.R.R.

you didn't answer my question....so I'll guess that generic data is what you want........

" Cartridges of the world 4th edition "

159 gr bullet...........48.0gr. Imr3031.........MV. 2820 fps
196 gr bullet...........49.0gr Imr4895.........MV. 2570 fps ...end quote

There is a "magnum" loading for the 8 x60 rimless(S)bore......by Maj. George NONTE

"The magnum loading is a hot load for the 8 x60 rimless"

170 gr. bullet...........50.0gr....Imr4320.......(.no velocity was given ,just the load).........

If it's an 8x60s, then it's got a .318 bore, good luck finding bullets. Further, they moved to a J bore early in the 1900's, so I'd expect the metallurgy of your rifle to be from that era - I'd be wary of hot loads.

You'd be safe using 8x57 load data and working up from there

Mr Prosper

R R stated the rifle is an 8 x60 rimless "S"...........that, according to my Manuals is .323 bore and not .318 bore .........I'm no expert so perhaps someone else will clarify what J bore is and what S bore is dimensionally....
