I'm contemplating picking one of these up.
It's said they are comparable to 358 winchester.
I've already got an 8 X 57 sporter so fireforming brass should be an option, correct?
If anyone has used one and has an opinion; favorable or not I'd appreciate hearing it.

Do it. Lots of guys on here have them and the reports have been very good. Noel and Why Not? both have used 9.3x57s with success. No good reason not to go with one, unless you want to get the x62 which is my current baby.

I've got one and I love it. A factory husqvarna based on a mauser 96 action. It shoots 270gr speers into an honest inch at 2325 fps, and that's not a hot load. The older rifles, like mine, are also quite light and make very good carrying rifles. And five rounds in the mag, with controlled feed is great too. Just my 2 cents, but I'd take a 9.3x57 over a .358 win any day, unless I was really bent out of shape about sticking to a true short action, instead of an intermediate action like a mauser 96/98.

As for your brass question, you are correct. I bought hornady dies from Tradex, and simply run 8x57 brass through them (well lubed), and done is done, just as the Tradex fellows suggest.

Its worked very well for me on 4 deer and a nice black bear so far, you dont need premium bullets and its quite miserly on powder for the amount of smack down you get.

The 9.3x57 is a better option, although finding reloading supplies locally is hard. Tradex Canada carries them though. My brother bought a husky 9.3 from tradex shoots really accuate.

The 9.3x 62 is better though, for further shots.
