9.3 x 62mm pet loads

Did you acquire one yet? Be a good heavy game rifle. I have a good friend who just got a CZ550 in 458. He likes it. I thought you were rechambering a 338Win to a 358 Taylor or 358Norma?

Back to your question - Not exactly a pet load - sorry - but just a guess based on my 35 cal (.358 versus .366) loading experience. I bet ReL15 would push those 286s pretty well. With initial loads, so far I get close to 2400 with 310s out of my 350WSM with ReL15. Steve's loading chart highlights ReL15 for 9.3x62 with 286s too here - http://stevespages.com/366_1_286.html

I've always admired that 9.3x 62 - though I'm mostly into 35cals. Maybe one day I'll graduate to 9.3.

Thanks, Whelen! I picked one up from a CGNer. I don't actually have it yet but It's paid for and I should hopefully see it in a week or so. I'll be in Sudbury next weekend and can hopefully pick up some components at The Shooter's Den.

most accurate and stable in all temperatures for me is the 286 Nosler or Norma Oryx in Graf brass, 215 mag primer and 59 gr Varget - out of my Sig at 2350 ft/s and sub-moa. no pressure issues- used it at -30 and plus 40 to no ill effects (cept to the target)

it also likes the speer 270 gr - maybe the best accuracy overall - 2550 ft/s, mag primer , Blc(2) 66 gr

i prefer the heavier bullet for hunting use.

Mauser98 - very informative thread on your 9.3x62.

I'm just curious - have you found the same accuracy edge in range testing in favour of Varget over ReL15 in your 35 Whelen with 250s too?

Although I've had the Whelen for about 10 years and shoot mainly 250 gr bullets, I've never used Varget in it.:)
