I was looking at a couple at a gun show recently, I was wondering if the components are commonly available. This is an interesting caliber and I would like some feed back, has anyone tried it and what sort of recoil should I be expecting. Thanks In advance.

I bought one of these recently but I'm still tinkering with it a bit so I haven't shot it yet (can't help you with the recoil question). Check out Trade-ex for rifles, they have quite a few and decent prices as well. Hornady makes production dies in 9.3x57, series four, about $80 most places (Epps had them in stock back in March, they have a few rifles for sale in this chambering so they likely still have dies in stock). I got 9.3x57 brass from Higginsons, but it can be made by simply necking up 8x57 which is easy enough to find. Nosler, Barnes and Speer (and some others) all make bullets in 9.3, so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting bullets (may need to order them). I'll be working on a load using the 250gr Barnes TSX. Should be an excellent black bear/moose round, no doubt it will take down deer as well.

Privi partizan bullets are made in ceklslvakia (SP?) they just recently quit making them, to bad because they were built about right for 9.3x57 velosities. The Nosler accubond 250 sould be a good one, I have bin shooting barns 250 originals with r15 with exellent results. For those who want pics, thats pushing it, I can hardly type.

Curtis, if you do a search on this little gem you ought to come up with all your eyes want to read tonight, right on this forum!
If Ipost my moosey head here one more time I will get labelled a post whore show off! LOL

In short, just get it. Recoil is manageable, they pack like a dream.

Keep in mind the iron sights are regulated for the 286gr pills. Go ahead and toss the lighter stuff but be ready to hit high between you and 140 yards by up to 8 inches. If you can find the PRVI bullets they are the cheapest while they last, next to that is the Speer 270gr which hole up very well in big Bullwinkles, I guarantee! :)

I've had one for 20 years or so, it is a great hunting rifle. Components are easier to get now then they were (I made brass from 30-06 for years), and there are a lot more bullet choices (270 Speer was pretty much it with any regularity, and I still use them a lot in my 9.3s). Ballistically speaking, it is a 358 win that makes a slightly bigger hole, and that's a good thing to be in a hunting gun. - dan

I've been trying to make my mind up on whether to get one or not-the issue isn't the rifle-everything I read about it sounds good-it's locating ammunition,as I don't reload-yet-but this could get me started.I love the 65x55 swedes, well built, accurate, low recoil and if the 9.3x57 has the same qualities but with a bigger bullet,I'd be well pleased
