Has anyone seen any of these for sale?

I need a large camp gun and prefer a semi with open sights. What are my options here?

338 win mag, 9.3x62 or bigger.

Thanks all :)

T3x battue in 9.3x62 with true glow fibre optic sights.

The T3 comes in semi automatic now?

What is the goal for this rifle? You mention camp, so I'm assuming bear defense? A 30-06 just isn't good enough eh? I've seen some 338 BARs on the EE in the past, but they're not common and no longer in production. Seems anything bigger than 30-06 is pretty rare, just not a lot of options when it comes to semi autos in magnum cartridges. Good luck on your search!

Had one too many Grizzly encounters the last bit. You are very correct in that a 308/3006 would likely due just fine. However, I'm fond of the 9.3x62 and find it very comfortable in my light bolt gun. I just thought I would see what I could find. I do understand it will happen quick and likely only be time for 1 shot anyways, but alas here I still am looking.

There was a 9.3x62 BAR on the EE for a bit but I never got a response from the seller.

I currently have bolts in 9.3x62, 458 Lott, a Lever 50 Alaskan, and a 500NE double but feel the semi may get carried more for a dual purpose gun that will be more likely to be one my side when its actually needed...

Sent you a PM.
You can buy the R1 sights seperately from stoeger, but they're about 300$. It's available for sale in 338 win new if you're looking at new only. It used to be available in 9.3x62 with a 22in barrel. I have one in 9.3x62 and so far has been very reliable. Points like a shotgun. Never had a feeding issue with any ammo.

The SR1 / HK SLB2000 hasn't been available new for a while but they pop up on occasion on the EE. They have a just under 20in barrel. There have been at least 2 in the last year or so, one in 9.3x62 and one in 300 win mag. I have had a few and love them with a 5rd mag. I use them for the same reason you want to with a LPVO on QD mount. I think Wolverine is the distributor for Haenel. They ordered me some mags a year or 2 ago. They may be able to get you a new rifle if you're dead set on new. I have not had any issues with feeding any ammo, including hornady ammo but it is custom internation 250gr GMX. Not sure what base diameter that has.

Sauer 303 is available in 338 win mag and 9.3x62. Ellwood epps has one but it's v pricy at 3900$. MD Charlton cleared out their inventory a few years back, not sure who the distributor is now. I assume those would be special order.

The bar has used 338 and 9.3x62 pop up from time to time. The 9.3x62 are from europe. One of the mods here had issues with feeding with his BAR. It would probably come up in a search as it was under 3 years ago.

I really appreciate all the feedback guys! I already have some big bore bolt action, lever and doubles and for some reason just feel more comfortable after a encounter switching to a shorter handier semi auto.

I like the SLB2000 20" barrel, I may have to watch for one. I'm just now reading about the Sauer 303

I knew this was the place to ask!

Short, handy, good irons, good deal for what it is:

Can't speak to if the juice is worth the squeeze, but a fantasy gun for me for sure

R1s are tapped for oem sights

Personally I think these are so ugly they're cool

That saure 303 would be the one!! Looks like they have a cocking/decocking safety, a real plus IMO!

Try and track down one of the converted Browning BAR's or M1 Garands in 458 WinMag. Might as well go BIG!

Or else grab a short barrel 40cal thumper like a Marlin SBL (45-70), Ruger Guide Gun (416 Ruger).

Thats giving off Ljutic space gun vibes lol.

Rebarrel a bar mag to 416 talyor or even a 375 taylor. I agree that the 3006 with 220grs would be more than enough but I also agree 338 or 9.3 would be better.

Would 220s be the best choice? Obviously they will have good penetration, but my understanding is bears - including Grizzlies - are susceptible to shock and thus velocity is your friend. 180gr A-frame might be a better option?... I guess it doesn't matter, the OP wants something bigger anyways.

They come in semi auto too, and now a browning maral style straightpull that only requires rearward pull and rebounds on its own.

Edit: nevermind, the semi does not come in 9.3

At bear defense range a 220gr 3006 load should have high enough velocity. Personally for extremely close shots I wouldn't want high velocity over 2400fps anyway. That's more than enough for shock value and low enough it doesn't shred the bullet. African game killers have long said that a heavy for caliber bullet at 2200fps is ideal for big dangerous game.
I'd take a double long before a semi auto rifle anyday myself

I had thought that when I bought the double, but its not usable for anything else, no beavers, no muskrats, no deer, ect. So I never carry it.

All my bad grizzly encounters have been when I'm not expecting it. Once I had needle nose pliers and a bucket when I got in-between a sow and cub and got charged. The last two I had my 17 hmr for problem beaver. The mentality change was that I want something handy that I carry for everything so I am more likely to have it when needed. A .308 Tar 7 (possible re-barrel to 358 win?) was also on my list if I move down in caliber

I think we all know the real answer is a chest rig with a pistol but alas then more gang shootings would happen in downtown Toronto. Silly me.
