9.3x62 semi Browning BAR or Merkel SR1

Well switched directions a little and decided to go with a Beretta 1301, not quite a big bore rifle but decent firepower to weight ratio and proven reliability. I mounted a trijicon RMR as co witness which is nice and prving to be more accurate then I thought.

Holds 3" groups with slugs at 50 yards and patterns well with bird shot

It will hold 6x 2.75" in the tube with the Canada legal 5.9 3" round tube extension, and with 1 ghost loaded and 1 in the chamber I have 8x capacity legally. Going to roll with this for a bit, still like the idea of a semi rifle but availability is a struggle.

Interesting thread. Does that mag extension hold 6 x 2.75 shells and is called a 5.9 extension because that's the capacity with 3-inchers? That Beretta looks like a great combination of "practical" and "fun". :)

Now that it's hit 25 posts, it's about due for someone to patiently explain how a 6.5Creed or 7-08 with ultra-high-BC extra-special-SD bullets will actually be better than any of these other choices to stop a grizz. Big bears, like many other large game, are well known to be very susceptible to "math death".

Don't smirk; it's coming...

Yep, with the extension it holds 5 (5.9) rounds of 3" 12 ga. as the gun is designed for and its stated on the barrel. Ghost loading is possible on the 1301 which is just a shell on the lifter/carrier. Then +1 in the chamber.

Nuts, I already had a 260 rem. That would have been much more simple ;)
