I took the A.G. Zella-Mehlis M98 in 9.3x62 down to the range tonight, to stretch her out.
I fired 4, 5-shot groups: 285gr Norma Oryx; 286 Norma Alaska; 286 Hornady IL and 286 Nosler Partition. All 4 groups averaged ~9" high and 6" left.
I'm wondering if my shooting technique was wrong. I was only holding the trigger, pulling the stock into my shoulder and had nothing on the foreend at all. When I reload some more, I'm gonna try shooting, holding the foreend down.
I got about 6" group size with the first 3 bullets, and about a 3" group with the NPs. By far the best group; although it was my last group fired and maybe I was shooting better by then?
Muzzle velocity was pretty consistent across all 4 groups, at an avg 2428 fps; I think that's too high. About a week ago I fired 5 across the Chrony and had 2321 fps MV... what gives? I didn't change a thing...
It was definitely cooler that day, but we're only talking 7-10C. That shouldn't produce that large of a difference, should it?
My load was 57.5grs RL-15, Lapua brass, Winchester LR primers. COAL was 3.150", which just nicely fits in the M98 magazine.
