9.3x74

Very popular round in Europe for driven game hunts where they want to stop running game very quickly. Similar to the .35 Whelen, it is a very good big critter getter. The rim is an advantage in single shot and double rifles, ejection of spent cases is more positive.

I have a Valmet 412 over/under with 9.3x74R barrels. I shoot 286 grain Nosler Partition and 270 grain Speer Hot Core projectiles. They both work well on any game. Hornady also has introduced loaded ammunition featuring a 286 grain Interlock which is available for reloading. I'm looking forward to trying these shortly.

Let me tell you, handling a cartridge with a loaded length of 3.665" is very impressive. When you load up that rifle with those long cartridges you feel like you are ready for anything. It is a fun hunting round.
