While shooting a Pre 1912 Service Match in Phoenix in both 2015 & 2016, I picked up 2x 3rd place belt buckles with my Mauser M1896's using cast lead bullets. 2 or the top 3 guns were M1896's both years.

Is the Swedish Mauser 6.5x55 M96 strong enough to use Hornady Superformance ammo ?

The Swedish steel used to manufacture, is supposed to the strongest steel used in any Mauser product

I wouldnt.

Its a strong enough action for regular 6 5x55. Just dont push it .

Lapua published some info a while ago on that. Basically they were saying that the modern 6.5x55 ammo is safe in M96 (you need to search for the details), but it’s not safe in Norwegian Krag Jorgensen.

I am using the Swedish Mauser with Nosler Trophy Grade 140 Grain and Lapua 123 Grain . No problems.
