For those of you with experience shooting open glocks in 9 major, that don’t use a carver optics mount, have you found a way to stop your pins from walking out? Not concerned with the trigger housing pins.

Are there special pins you can buy that are designed to stop this?

I am using both a glock 17 gen 3 frame and a Polymer 80 serialized frame and both experience pin walk after approximately 4-5 mags worth of 9 major going through the pistols. The pins are not at risk of coming out at this point (4-5 mags) but I suspect additional rounds through the pistols would result in the pins walking out further and perhaps causing frame damage to the pin holes.

I have not yet tried using a glue or nail polish or locktite and was thinking of maybe machining pins with slightly oversized knurling on the ends of the pins and then using locktite but don’t want to take the chance of damaging the polymer frames.

The best option would probably be to drill and tap the pins on each end and have small threaded screws locktited once threaded into the pins in order to retain the pins on both sides but I am unable to machine teenie weenie parts like this on my lathe.

If anyone has found a solution or special pins that address this issue and are able to provide some insight that would be hugely appreciated.

And in case you are wondering, no the pins do not fit loosely into either frame - normal force required to insert them just like the other glocks I own.

Many thanks in advance.

Markit.

Been there done that it’s not a good idea but as I avoided this same advice and continued anyways I’m sure you will also lol I had this same problem the way around it is to use a hammer and give the pin a couple smacks on concrete this will slightly flatten one side and bulge the other, don’t go crazy with this just do it a few times and keep checking.
