On my 1983 trapper 44 AE I have to squeeze the lever hard in order to disengage the trigger block. is there a fix for this ? For sure I would be in trouble if I was lightin' it up at a deer. It seems that after the action is locked up you still have to squeeze extra hard to push the pin up and move the block behind the trigger. Anyone sympathize ? Oh and while I'm on the topic isn't that lever a rattly thing when the action is open ?. God 90 years of 94' makin' and they come up with this  ??

sounds like an adjustment or dort. Remove the stock and check operation of the lever safety. Could be dirt etc blocking it or a slight tweek needed. It is not a complicated system and easily checked for proper operation.

On my admittedly older Winchesters, the pressure needed to operate that tiny little safety is almost non existent. Something is not quite right. Dirt, binding.... something.
Might not be the safety, might be something stopping the action from going home. For example, check the groove that the extractor fits into when the action is closed, and clean out any debris found.
