I decided that I might be interested in purchasing a 9422 for myself, but I wasn't quite prepared for the prices that these guns are selling for. Searching online, I found a few 9422s in various conditions, and the prices ranged from $475 to $750 depending on the condition. I am only quoting prices for the standard and XTR models, not the special editions, which can cost much more. Looking at the US sites like Gunbroker, Guns America, and Guns International, it appears that the US prices are just as high, if not higher in some cases. This is amazing considering that these guns sold for around $500 when they were last manufactured. I finally located a 9422 Tribute model, as new in the original box, and purchased it for $700. It seems strange that the 9422 seems to be selling for more than the centerfire model 94s, but that appears to be the case. So if you decide that you want a good clean 9422, either be prepared to look long and hard, and hopefully get lucky, or be prepared to spend a considerable sum to purchase one.

Might not be a better 22 made, period.

I wouldn't go that far, my 9422 will likely only see some plinking, and possibly a few ground squirrels. It will never take the place of my Cooper, or my CZ when I want to be as accurate as possible.

It is as much nostalgia to me as anything, since my first hunting rifle was a model 94 in 30-30.It is also a gun that won't likely decrease in value,if I keep it in excellent condition.

You've answered your own question...

Agree, the price are getting kind of high, glad I bought mine years ago... when they were only $30 more than a 10/22 :)

This been said, I'm curious to see some review on the Chaparal W9422. $325 and made in Italy doesn't sound bad...

I guess that some 9422 owners must have read my posts, and boosted their prices accordingly. Lately, I have seen a few 9422s on the EE, and on other sites priced at $750 or higher, and they certainly looked to be used, some even with parts missing. Yet I still know of a few 9422s in mint condition , priced at $650.

My buddy in SK has a 9422 in .22 Magnum (90% condition) that he was gonna sell to a neighboring farmer seeing that he never shoots it. The fool was gonna sell it for $150 seeing that it was "an old lever gun that only shoots expensive ammo".
I corrected him and he has decided to just hang onto it as an investment.

Only reason I mention this is that you could get lucky if you check around
