A coworker has a 9422 in mint shape with only 1 box max shot through it. It is a special edition with engraving on the side of the receiver. It was made in the last year or so of 9422 production. I was wondering on what it is and what is it worth. He has shown interest in selling it but has no idea on value. Any help would be great, thanks.

"...only 1 box max shot..." That means it's not mint.
A silver plated receiver with the traditional Winchester® Horse and Rider on one side? Makes it a Custom Traditional Tribute.
A deeply blued receiver with high-relief silver inlay engraving makes it a High Grade Traditional Tribute.
A semi-pistol grip with engraved with silver-enhanced scenes on a blued receiver, makes it a High Grade Legacy Tribute.
Not seeing any Canadian prices on-line. This will be of some use though.

A regular 9422 used, in MINT shape, is worth no more than 60 percent of what it sold for new. These guns were made in such vast quantities that they likely will never be anything special for next 50 years. I had two for a while, and both shot O.K., but I really didn't like them that much so I didn't keep them. What Sunray says is correct, there were several versions. There is one that he didn't mention and that is just the base regular model I mentioned that is blued with some nice ingraving, not inlays or anything. This is the cheapest one. The others may hold a higher value but never any more that what they were at new. One round or 200 rounds, it is used. New in Box always commands more for a collector gun, which this is not. NIB can sometimes, sometimes, but not in this case, demand a higher value.

My local g-store had a used 9422 in stock earlier this spring....... He was asking $275 (if memory serves) didn't last very long on the shelf.

I do belive he still has a 94 in .22mag still on the shelf, he is looking in the $325 range for it....

Cheers!
