I don't know much about scopes and mounts, but I bought a tasco rimfire scope(its only temporary!) from crappy tire. And although it fits from on my 10/22 stock mount, it doesn't seem to fit on the 9422m I have. So i'm wondering what options I have with the 9422M scope wise. I don't want to pick a scope up off the EE and then have no way to mount it.

the ruger 10/22 takes a weaver TO-9 mount and the 9422 takes a weaver TO-10 mount. the ruger is already drilled and tapped and the 9422 could be as well depending on the DOM or if someone else has already had it done on a used rifle. if it's an early model 1022 it may have a grooved reciever, thus your tasco .22 scope would fit or on a used 1022 someone may have had the reciever grooved. in any case , a drilled and tapped reciever can take a centerfire rifle scope that IMHO is your best bet.

The receiver on the 9422/9422M is grooved for dovetail mounts. I've had good luck with the Burris Deluxe steel rings. The medium ones just allow a 32mm or smaller scope to clear the rear sight once the elevator is removed. I had a Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7X mounted. Made a nice light package.

If there are 2 parallel groves on the top of the receiver, you need the proper scope mounts for a rimfire. also allow for the large bell on the front of the scope. The mounts have to be high enough to clear the rear sight or remove it by tapping sideways with a wood or plastic dowel (prevents damage to the finish on the barrel). If tapped with threaded holes, you need a scope base and rings to fit the mount. remember again to allow for the large bell.

Its grooved on the receiver, not tapped. But i was confused because the rings that came on the scope didn't seem to attach on the rifle. thinking about it, the rear sight did seem kind of in the way, maybe it was preventing it from getting the proper grip? I'll have to try it again when I get home.
