My 96 swede sporter had a leaf type rear sight (with a raised dovetail mount) that has been removed by someone. The rear of the receiver has been drilled and tapped with 2 holes (not on long axis - but side to side - in the middle of the rear receiver hoop) --

what type of sight do you think went there ? -- does anyone have any suggestions as to what may fit at that point , while not sticking behind (that would interfere with the bolt shank lifting)

i would like to put some sort of peep sight there -- does not have to be the most fancy , just a nice ring. I can machine etc to make something work. just looking for a good starting point so I dont have to re-invent the wheel.

Hi

There are a number of different diopter rear sights that show up on Swede Mausers. Most of them are pretty tough to find outside of Sweden. The one on mine was made by Soderin.

Maybe they have some spare sights?
 
+1 -- excellent information. I know one of these sights on rebooty would be the one -- now the search begins!
