After looking at the mag couplers for the LAR15 .223 mags, I got to thinking about the 9mm AR mags. The .223 mags really don't look that bad I find, but the little 9mm mags are terrible looking as far as I am concerned. So, I took two of the 9mm mags, and removed the base plates. Next, I took the baseplates and placed them together, and then put the little spacer plate on the opposite side of each baseplate (as they would sit in the mag). There is a hole in each of the plates and baseplates, so I ran a 1/8" poprivet through (it fit perfect), and after lining everything up, I snapped the rivet in place. The mags then just slip on to each lip as they are supposed to, and voila, I know have a full length mag!
Now, getting them apart is a little tricky, as you typically push the inner plate up a bit to get the baseplate off...in this configuration, this is no longer possible. However, you can get a screwdriver into the back of each mag and they still will seperate. Ther is a bit of play between the two mags, which could be fixed by adding a second rivet. Or, a bit of black tape would stop it as well.
The pic below shows the 2 together compared to a full size Uzi mag.
