hey there fellow unnutz!

i am looking for any and all information that you guys have on any sort of 1911 in 9mm. i love the 1911 frame but .45acp is just to damn expensive for me to shoot.

some questions that i need answered are:

what brand should i go with and why?
should i go with a commander length or government length?
is there any after market upgrades that i should get?
where is the best place to get one?

any and all info would be great. thanks guys and gals. cheers!

p.s if you happen to have one for sale, p.m me and let me know. lol

STI Trojan 5" barrel, IMHO one of the best buys in 1911's, well made, reliable and accurate. Nothing to add to make it better unless you want a magwell and they can be purchased from Freedom Ventures. Excellent choice for IDPA ESP Division.

STI also just came out with the Spartan in 9mm.

That or you could try to get your hands on a Norinco NP-29 (if you ever find one), lots of positive reviews about that one.

Just can't get myself to drop 1200 on a handgun...

If NP-29 don't show up at December, I may have to get a Spartan instead.

Profaners, St John's pistol should only be fired in the Holy Calibre :D

OK, call me a profaner

My NP-29 has been a great pistol. The only bad thing about it are the tiny sights. But at 7 yards or less, it doesn't really matter.

It gobbles up JHPs like a fat kid sucks back Smarties.

Another STI fan here but I'm suggesting the commander length Ranger II. I just got to shoot another fellow's new 9mm Ranger II last week for one magazine. And I've shot a .40 Ranger II for about a box of ammo. THe balance in the hand of the commander length coupled with 9mm is magical.

Mind you with the Spartan coming in 9mm it'll be tough to not go that way.

I saw a guy once at the Range with a Colt 1911 in 9mm. He fired 50 rounds, no failure

How about reloading ?
can go down to a bit less 18 cents a rounds without making your own bullets
and if you cast your own bullets it's cheaper then 9mm.
