9mm & 38spl shot dies?

CH4D.com in Mt. Vernon, OH list blank crimping dies. (They have more dies than you can imagine.) Whether they are allowed to export to Canada is another question, however.

In the case of the 9mm, I'm going to have to assume that you need to use 9mm magnum or 9x23 cases. Using regular 9mm brass and then applying a rosebud crimp would shorten the case so that it would likely never feed.

Also, you can't just load a 9mm with blanks and get it to fire semi-auto. Prop guns have the barrels threaded and a restrictive plug inserted. It's needed to provide the back pressure to get the gun to cycle.
 
CH 4D can and will export to Canada , However they are in the same boat as all the other manufacturers that produce swage/reloading dies . I ordered from them on Feb 19/2010 and they have yet to get around to productin ! You will get it but the question is when !
 
Unfortunate , however that is the way it is going in the US right now . In the shooting sports industry! And with the economy down south there are worse things than having a "captive " audience and over a year of income guaranteed ! Just try and order a set of Swaging dies from Corbin ! They are over 18 months on back order . And 1 set of dies can cost upwards of $1300.00 . And yes there is a waiting list there as well !
 
You can't use regular 9mm brass to make blanks. Even blanks require good headspace. The crimping on a blank takes the place of a bullet and allows feeding. However, like Canuck223 says a semi-auto won't be.
A .38 can be loaded as a blank by using a filler and a crimped in disk of thin cardboard.
Just remember that you cannot shoot any handgun anywhere but on an approved range, even with blanks. Movie, TV and theatrical companies have special permits.
There are or used to be empty shot capsules for .38/.357 revolvers. Made by Speer, as I recall. Never seen nor heard of 'em for 9mm. Shot out of a rifled barrel flies in a spiral, producing patterns with big holes. They're a very short range thing.
 
Then CH it is. They still may also be able to provide u with info as to brass blanks, but they may have stopped that now. Go on the site and have a boo.
