9mm Ammunition

I don't know what you mean by "decent" but if you mean "proper" prices... you're outta luck. 9mm is 2x what it should be now. Ammo I bought as low as $0.19cpr (average was $0.25cpr) is going for minimum $0.40cpr.

But if your wondering what's cheapest and still goes bang, its steel case.... for $0.40cpr.

anything below level of ~$450+tax per 1000rnds would be good ... especially if with a free shipping ...
newly manufactured, RN, FMJ, brass cased, reloadable ...

.18 cents per round. You have to load your own, but the economics of loading 9mm have recently changed to make it worthwhile.

Thank You for the replies . I plan to get into reloading in the future but I think you need to have a lot of time in your hands and a good mentor ? I think for now I will focus on getting to know the pistols coming to me and their operation and shooting technique !

Sorry but I’m covering a few threads with the same question as I have no experience with 9mm .
What Brand should I be looking at ? What Bullet weight , Bullet type ?

Buy whatever you can for the cheapest price you can find and send it.

I have shot aluminum, steel case, brass, different weight bullets and they all go through paper.

If you're just starting out then anything below the $450 per 1000 price tag is now considered "cheap". Gone are the days of $225/1000. Once you are comfortable around your gun, get comfortable with reloading... if you can find primers.

does everybody think this is the new standard and everything goes up from here or do you think prices may go down in the near future? also, I have had good experience with CCI aluminum cased 9mm but wondering if the majority of you would not run it trough your guns since they say you might wear out parts faster than normal?

This video and a few reloading books got me started. Worth checking out. It's a 1.5 hour video and just about every minute is important.
