Hey gents.

I am taking some training and need reliable 9mm and shotgun rounds. Since cost is always an issue so what do you guys use for such events? Looking to get 1-2000 rounds of 9 and 1000 rounds of shotty.

Appreciate any recommendations you have.

I would recommend Winchester 100 round value packs for 9mm ammo. They can be found pretty easily if you look and the ammo has never let me down. it is very economical for volume shoots. As for 12 gauge ammo if it is birdshot you are looking for any flat of 250 you can get on sale is your best bet. I recall getting some 7.5 or 8s at sail for $65 a flat though that was a sale. If it is buckshot you are looking for I have had good luck with Canada ammo and their dominion buckshot. Good value for what you get.

I like Federal American Eagle for 9mm, but it has been difficult for me to find for over a year now. I recently purchased some Blazer Brass from Cablela's, but I noticed the accuracy to be poor in my Glock 17 and it seemed to have soot on the side of the casings after firing and was fouling the chamber. Anyone else experience this?

I've tried the Winchester white box ammo and it was okay, also the Remington UMC.

For shotgun rounds I get Challenger Target Loads from Canadian Tire (also available at other retailers like Cabela's). I think they are decent for the price and are made in Canada.

I've never had any reliability issues with any of the above ammo.

I'd like to know why the selection of North American brand 9mm ammo has been so sparse for the last year. Any info, please post!

I've had this happen in Glocks with both the aluminum cased Blazer ammo as well as their brass.
Could be harder and doesn't obturate well.
Ammo could be at a lower pressure that doesn't obturate the cases.
Don't know.

Panic buying in the US is causing a shortage due to massively increased demand for a couple years now that manufacturers can't meet due to not being able to open new factories due to regulations and all current factories running at 100%. This generally started right after the Sandy Hook shooting when the NRA starting saying Obama was going to ban all guns in America so people started stockpiling. Shortages caused people not involved in the initial panic to start panic buying, and it all snowballed and the firearms market has been spending years recovering while also suffering from mini-panics such as the events in Ferguson.
OR
It's a conspiracy among Canadian importers and retailers to come up with an excuse to increase prices by pretending there's a shortage so they can increase profits.
OR
It's a secret conspiracy by the Liberals/Obama/Zionists/reptilian aliens to slow down ammo supply until they stop it totally before beginning the global cull and indoctrination of survivors into slaves for Isreal.

All three theories have their supporters here on CGN. I generally go with the first one.
