Who sells them in Canada other than Questar? Also why are the RRA .223 lowers so much cheaper than the RRA 9mm lowers that are for sale on Questars web site? $220 for a 556 pistol marked lower and $500 for a 9mm dedicated why the big difference.

No adapter required for the RRA dedicated 9 mm lower. With the .223/5.56 lower you will need an adapter for another 2-3 hundred dollars more.

It apears from photos that the feed ramp is an integral part of the lower which means that they would have had to have had a new die made. That, combined with the extra parts, different machining set ups required and limited production compared to the standard lower would all translate into increased cost to manufacture.

Nothing wrong with using a regular lower for a 9mm build but as stated you'll need a mag well adapter (I've picked up a couple for around $100 in the EE) and a non-notched hammer or a ramped bolt. Might have to replace the BHO depending on which adapter you use if that matters to you.

AFAIK Questar are the only ones bringing in RRA.

They're the only large scale manufacturer doing so that I know of. You set on a dedicated lower?

My 2cents..

I use a regular RRA lower with their 9mm conversion kit. The kit includes the mag well adapter, the buffer, buffer spring and a standard (no-notch) hammer. The kit was about $250.

Takes 5 min to swap it in/out so if I wanted to I can switch that lower back and forth between 9mm/.223.

With a dedicated 9mm lower you're stuck in 9mm..

Not a bad option. Where did you get the kit from?

You could piece it together yourself, but basically RRA has everything that you need if you're looking for one stop shopping.

Get in touch with Questar and tell them what you want.

I'd go with a Hahn Precision magwell adaptor, they're highly regarded and about the same price stateside as the RRA. You have three options depending on which features you like.

I am wondering about you guys who are running mag blocks. Which blocks are you using and which mags. Basically which mags are abundant, reliable and relatively cheap?

I run a cheap ASA type drop in magwell adaptor. Easiest to install but the bolt hold open won't work, the only real downside if you ask me.

The only mags I've ever used are the Colt mags made by Metalform, they were pretty much the only option when I built mine but now you can get mags from Promag, C Products and Metalform. Who actually carries them up here is anyones guess. C Products will ship limited mags direct to Canada but I couldn't find any mags limited to 5rds for the 9mm, perhaps you could give them a call and see what they say. C Products also makes a 10rd mag for Questar, for the LAR-15 pistol, these are legal 10rd mags that can be used in any AR. Your other option, if you can find them at a good price, are to convert uzi mags by cutting a notch for the mag catch, this is exactly what RRA does.

In my rra conversion I use the LAR ten rounders as well ad CProduct 30/5 sticks.
They function without issue and my bolt hold open works too...

Anyone have any opinions about the RRA Magwell Adapters vs the Spike's Tactical? I just noticed both on the Questar site. Or in general a dedicated vs a conversion kit? I'm just more concerned about reliability then the convenience on switching back and forth.

Sorry, I did a search but nothing dedicated to my questions. Thanks!
