if a reloading manual states the 9mm has a .356 dia bullet
but the catalog i order from has 9mm as .355 and 380 or 38s list as .356 which is the better choice. is 1 or 2 thou a big difference
also is the progresive 1000 ok for .223 and which die set should i use. i see the deluxe 3 die but says not for autoloaders, is the pacesetter for this. i would like to reload for auto and bolt.

The deluxe die set includes the collet neck sizer and the full length sizer... The idea (and the reason not recommended for auto loaders) is that once the brass is fireformed to your chamber then you neck size only for a more accurate "fit" in the chamber.

Of course if the autoloader chamber is nice and tight/precise and centred axially then it MAY be possible to use a neck sizing arrangement. Mysticplayer (go to the precision rifle forum) has some stuff about that on his website.

The Pro 1000 will load .223, but is not going to be as accurate as doing it singly. This is the only rifle round the Pro 1000 can handle.

In lead bullets 1 or 2 thou aren't a big deal, same with plated lead. hard jacketted bullets should be closer in size. You may still be able to use them but always start fresh and work the load up again.

ive got a dedicated lee 1000 in 223, and i've found it almost useless as the lube tends to dry( hornady 1 shot) before you get 1 column done and i move pretty good- you also should replace the powder measure with one of larger capacity as with 25 grains of 748 per shot it depletes pretty quickly- i'm running 70 grain speers to feed a 1/7 colt ar- so i'm doing a fair bit, hence the progressive- in retrospective a lee turret or loadmaster would maybe a better choice with an rcbs lube die in the first station, then resize- the 1000 in 223 has a collar in the plate and cylinder assembly , same as the 9mm, so you have to replace this if you decide to convert to other calibers as well- that's 16 bucks us- in short, you really need a 4 -place progressive for doing rifle- it's also a good idea for revolvers-
