I was wondering how many of us choose the 9mm platform due to the relatively cheap ammo? Since I like to shoot alot (relative of course) the cost of .45 ACP is just too expensive.:(

Although now that I have begun reloading, maybe a new Springfield .45 for next Christmas :)

it's still cheaper to reload 9mm than .45...so 9mm will always have an advantage when it comes to cost.

but I'm sure it's not just the money; 9mm offers better capacity, (yes we're only limited to 10 rouns), still most .45 (1911s esp) use 7-8 round mags.

some people also prefer lower recoil of 9mm...

9mm Lugers kick-ass, at 10 dollarz a box, you cant go wrong. but .45's aren't that bad. Le Baron sells them for about 15 dollars a box...........you want to talk pricy, a box of .44 Mags is $25.00 a box.

what .50AE? I think more like $3 a pop , 44mag is pricey too, I would't be able top shoot mine if I couldn't relaod

I think Le Baron sells 9mm for $8.99...

or u could go to a range that the rcmp shoots at and start collecting all the .40 brass for free

Although I have 9mm and 45 acp among others in my collection I use my 9mm more often because of ammo costs & availability. I find it almost impossible to find any ammo retail in Quebec. I find myself ordering all my ammo on line except for 22's and some shells from Walmart.

I have handguns in 22lr, 9mm, 40S&W, and 44mag... I shoot the 9mm the most as it is cheapish yet powerfull enough to me fun. With the 40 and 44 a range outing gets really expensive. The last time I went with just the 9mm I still shot 450rds... can't afford to be doing that with the 44.

I was getting kinda sick of reloading so I gave up shooting 45 and 357 and sold my reloading equipment. Only shoot 9mm and .22lr now in handguns. With factory ammo at less than $10 a box it ain't worth reloading anyway IMHO.

if you pick up RCMP brass you'll be picking up 9mm, not .40

Really? Heh. Well then I guess that all those Mounties that are shooting .40 S&W's at the range need to be told. As well as the traffic cop that pulled me over the other day. As well as the IBET mounties that carry .40 S&W. And then there's my uncle who shoots a Glock 22 (.40) specifically because the mounties on the island use the same range he does, and has been able to reload 10K+ thanks to their brass

9mm

9mm is fun & snappy for punching paper. I load both 9mm & .45ACP. Cost is slightly more to load for .45ACP but I sure enjoy shooting .45's a lot more... ;) :D

Yes.

But, I decided to splurge and go with .40S&W for the little more it costs (and can swap between .357SIG as well for odd-ball fun)
