hi, i am goign through mags i have here and i have a ruger 9mm here that we got about the time everything was being locked down in 2020 so haven't been able to take it to a range yet. whats puzzling me is it was bought used and i just noticed it had two mags with it, one is shorter than the other and is too short to click into position. i took a picture for more clairty. i'm sort of confused why the previous owner didn't make mention of it (or maybe he did and i've just forgotten about it. my question, can the shorter one be made to operate like the longer one? bit of a newbie with these things and am trying to get organized to maybe start going to the range with them

Those are both Ruger SR9 magazines

The shorter one came with the PC carbine and won't work in the Canadian legal SR9 handgun

It's for the sub compact

But they will both work in your Ruger PC9

If you can find a spare base plate for the pistol mag you should be able to swap it onto the compact mag and use it, although knowing how things go it’s probably cheaper to sell the short carbine one and buy a reg pistol mag.
