9mm Major load data questions

Hi all,

So I just got a CZ Czechmate, I read a bunch of posts on different forums with different 9mm Major loads, sure they worked fine for whatever gun the OP's were using...but every answer raised more questions...so I really want to get to the bottom of this...with a few specific questions to see if I can connect the dots...

1: rumours say there is a relationship between the number for ports on the compensator and the powder choice, is this true to any degree? If so are there more information on this topic?

2: what's the difference (in terms of powder load and muzzle velocity difference) with different primers? I mean generally speaking, SP vs SR vs SP magnum

3: has anyone developed a load yet for the Czechmate...? I got some VV3N37, Long Shot, Silhouette, and some CFE pistol that'll supposedly work with 9mm major loads...any comments/concerns will be greatly appreciated, as well as any recommendations. (I'm loading 125Gr Zero Bullets by the way)

Thanks!

The 2015 issue of The Gun Digest has an article on recoil and compensators ( Muzzle breaks ).

For a given bullet weight and muzzle velocity.

1. With no muzzle break, the powder that is the lightest weight produces the least recoil.

2. With a muzzle break, the powder that is the heaviest weight produces the least recoil.

For 1, the lightest powder charge produces the least gas and least recoil.

For 2, the most powder produces the most gas to make the muzzle break work effectively, according to the article

Thanks a bunch for the load! I;ll crank some out this weekend and Chrony them, I'll try experimenting around with different loads too!

No prob. If memory serves, 8.3 through chrony at Nats was around 180 PF, so he's going to drop it down to 8.
Should still give him a good margin.

I think this is way off. HS6 8.0-8.3 is the max for 45ACP 230gr FMJ. for 9mm the max is 6.6gr.
while I don't have Czechmate(tactical is on the way), I loaded up HS-6 with 6.2/.4/.6. 6.4 and 6.6gr is definitely hotter than Wolf reload, but very managable. I tried longshot 5.2gr and 5.4gr with good results too, but felt lighter than 6.6gr HS-6. all done @ 15 meters. don't know the FPS as I don't have a chrono. the OAL is 1.105

My buddy has 2, his load is:

HS6 @ 8.0-8.3
124g Bullet
OAL - 1.135 to 1.145
Regular primers

Hope that helps

I don't shoot Open, but I developed some +P+ loads just for fun using Campro 124gr plated hollow point bullets on top of Longshot. I've since switched from Dominion primers to CCI primers in my Production 147gr loads and didn't see any noticeable difference in fps. The only thing with Longshot is that while I think it shoots pretty "soft", it's very dirty and leaves an oily soot. Have not tried working up any +P+ loads using VV N320, but it's great in my Production loads and I find it shoots much cleaner.
