OK, after doing some research and asking some questions on here, I think I have narrowed my search down to a 9mm major for my open gun purchase. Likley looking at either Tanfoglio or STI. Now the fun of trying to find a deal on one. When I first started thinking about this a couple months ago, could have had a STI Trubor for $3199, now $4700 with the great Cdn dollar. Has anyone seen a deal at a dealer anywhere they could share?

A good STI dealer down this way is Williams Arms, in Port Perry, they are quite fair with their pricing. I'm not sure what they have available at the moment but it would be worth giving them a look.

Build one, Freedom Ventures cam help you with the frame and slide and some internal parts, or you can check CK arms or Akai and SVI,

These guys are highly recommended in my book, I'd start there

if you decide to build locally, Roger Kotanko of Dark International can do it for you, Try inquiring too from Double Tap (Josko), I myself prefers buildings since Open or Race guns are very personnal, ( fit, comp design, lightening, trigger job and even the controls like safety etc), if you know what youre looking for in Race gun or want then custom built is the way to go,

Still looking.

The Trubor on the EE sold and the Grandmaster is 38 super. As much as building a gun would interest me, having built a custom AR I know that this option comes out to be more expensive in the end, granted you get exactly the parts you want ( why I built the AR)

Having been down this road, unless you happen to find a good used one, you may need to shop south of the boarder. Sometimes it is for the price, most times it is because there is nothing available. I came across a new Trubor for $2,200 last year in Texas. For example, FV may have some STI DVCs available this summer (if you order one now), but you can buy one in the USA today and have it in your hands in about 1.5 months using an import company (about $5,300 cdn plus tax). Don't forget to buy the 140mm mags as well.

If you want a smaller gun, I believe FV has a MatchMaster at pre-lower dollar pricing.

The Trubor in the EE had the T1 comp; the T2 comp is the one to get for Major.
