I have a friend who wants to sell me this rifle. I am trying to price it. It is a 9mm mauser sporter. Not a converted army rifle. It comes with 5 boxes of ammo. I am wondering what the price of this woudl be roughly. I will post pictrues when I see it Saturday.

Thanks Hillbilly

A walk through the Tradeex (Sporting Arms) site will give you ample examples. Off the top of my head a 96 Mauser from $200 to $300 if a 98 from $300 to $400. FWIW ---John303.

Hello, as regards the 9x57, I just picked one up from Tradex last week. Cost was $275 for a rifle with Weaver bases installed, the bolt bent to clear the ocular, and a "slightly dark" bore:)
Other offerings ran from $ 375-395-425 condition dependant. I would estimate my rifle to weigh around 6 to not more than, 6.5 pounds, and it doesn't even have a plastic stock!!! All told, it is the M70 FWT 358 Winchester that i probably won't ever be able to afford, let alone use in the field.

A nice Mauser 9x57 can be many hundreds - maybe $1000 plus - with a nice claw mount scope and engraving, who knows. You really need to give a lot more info before a price can be given.

Many were beautiful rifles - custom built or guild rifles. It was a somewhat popular round at one time. Many of these classics had octagonal bbls, half ribs, set triggers, bullet traps, ......

I will see it Saturday and report back. I figure his 1200 asking price might be a bit high. :)

It's a bit like asking "what's a camaro worth?", could be nothing, and some 9x57 sporting rifles in the right condition could easily justify over $5,000. Need to see what he has, they made a lot better rifles than the basic tradex Mausers.

You beat me to it!

I also agree that value will be anywhere from about 300.00 $-ish to anywhere up to over 5 000.00$....
Most of the rifles in 9mm Mauser at Trade Ex are "utilitarian" rifles made by Geco. These were often rebored ex-military rifles and were intended for wide diffusion. Actually, a big part of the 9mm Mausers were built.on rebored barrels (after WWI, 8X57 rifles were outlawed). Some of these high numberrd Geco are suspiciously rebored.... to say the least.

They come up here in the auctions everyt now and again, not often reaching their reserve as there isnt much you can use them on here according to the Police!
They are rather fixated by numbers in the calibre game and never really get beyond the first one!

But, if your a Mopar kinda guy it doesnt matter how nice the camaro is;)
Post some pictures and a full range report too. Please

Too bad! I was looking forward to the pics.

TEC Trade Ex has a few 9x57's. You really have to watch the bore dia. on these though. I had one on a small ring 98 that slugged at .348!
