I have a 1911 that shoots 45ACP . Anyone know where I can get a conversoin kit so that I can shoot 9mm out of it?

There are no "kits" that I know of, you need a new slide and barrel which you can get from freedom ventures or any other 1911 parts supplier. The other alternative is to get a slide from SVI which has an interchangeable breech face. You fit one slide to your gun that has two different barrels fit to it. Then you swap out the breech face and barrel when you want to change calibers. Here's the catch, for the price of getting any make of new barrel and a slide from SVI you'll be about the same price or more if you pay a smith to do the work then buying a Norc NP-29 from marstar. I'm not advocating any option over another, I'm just giving all the options I can come up with.

You would have to buy a new slide and barrel assembly. The breech face is different. Also you would have to change ejectors and extractors as they are also different.
Recoil springs and mags are significantly different too.
It can be done but I don't think I've ever heard of a kit for it. I see lots of guys looking for 9mm top ends.

After 20 years of shooting 1911's I have come back to the beginning. Buy a gun made to shoot the calibre.

Hmmmmm...let's see. You can spend the cost + of a new gun in 'bits', and then spend a bunch of time removing and replacing parts back and forth....
In the end, it's more cost and aggravation than it's worth...
The 1911 platform is an absolute 'sweety' in 9MM...do yourself a favour and
just buy a dedicated 9MM, if that's what you want.
I have a Sig 226 in 40S&W and have a .357Sig barrel that just drops in..
takes 10 seconds..uses the same springs, ejector, mags, etc.
That's about as close to getting 'two guns in one' as it gets!

OK maybe " kit " was the wrong wording. What I'm looking for is a new top end , extractor and mags in 9 mm. I love my 1911. I really don't want to buy an other gun.
