I hope this is the proper forum for this question...
Would anyone know if a pistol chambered for the 9X23 round can also fire the 9mm Parabellum ?
I'm seriously in doubt because I think the smaller case headspaces on the neck, thus not chambering properly in the longer chamber ?

I own an STI Race Gun chambered in 9x23. I have fired thousands of 9x19 through the 9x23 chamber - some as powerful as PF 201. No parts breakage, failed extraction or other issues experienced. The 9x19 headspaces off the extractor.

Regarding accuracy, one would think that the excessive throat length would mean very poor accuracy potential. I have found that accuracy is easily acceptable at practical pistol range (50m or less). That said, this experience is based on use in a pistol capable of firing 9x23 into a 10cm group at 100m from a bench.

It can work, but the fear is it the extractor alone isn't holding the case tight to the breech, it can hammer the piss out of it when firing.

Thanks fellas, do appreciate the input.
What I really meant to say in my original post was that I thought the 9X19 headspaced on the case mouth, instead I typed case neck.
All the same, nice to know it could work.
