I found a Mauser Oberndorf B in 9x57 today. Looks all original except for a cut stock and red rubber recoil pad. Anyone load for the 9x57 or have a source for bullets in Canada? Hopefully I’ll have it in the woods this fall. FD4ABF04-15CB-459A-BFE7-E06FAB6D363D.jpg

I was watching that rifle for a couple weeks now! First thing I would do is have a gunsmith slug the barrel and find out exactly what the bore diameter is and go from there.

We're talking .002" difference. I would just use regular .35 cal. bullets. If you do your load development properly you should have any pressure problems.

The rifle is a type 'B' commercial Mauser. Length of pull should have been around 14 1/2", so obviously considerably shortened.

I have a pair of rifles in9X57. For light plinking loads I use 9mm .355 dia. bullets, both cast and jacketed, that were designed for use in the 9mm Luger. I have also used 35 cal. .357 dia. pistol bullets as well with no issues to speak of for light loads.
I also use standard .358 dia. rifle bullets but I run these through a Lee push through die to reduce them slightly to the standard 9mm bullet dia. of .355" just to be on the safe side as both my rifles have tight chambers and I don't want any chambering issues with these bullets.
For loading data I use the 358 Win. STARTING loads as found in several loading manuals and work up from there. I have also used Trailboss with good results in several bullet weights.
The two 9X57 rifles I have are among my favourites to take to the range, both are nicely balanced and handle quite well.

Awesome advice in load development here in above posts.
Great rifle, a hand made model B!

I just took delivery of the rifle. Mauser Orberndorf sporter marked on the barrel Germania Waffenwerke. The barrel is marked 6,5. 6,75. 200. The s/n is 73016P.P. The bottom of the barrel have eagle N and J proofs along with a heart with arrow in it. It’s now chambered in 9x57 and all numbers match. I’m guessing it was rebored from a 6.5x57 by Anschutz. Looks like the scope bases are soldered on, both front and back.
