Just got into handguns this past year and would like to take some training / course to become a more proficient and competent shooter. Any suggestions of good places in Alberta ? I have an open mind and want to learn proper Handeling and shooting techniques but want to get the most out of what I spend for training. I would be open to other places in Canada as well and have considered taking some courses at the Sig Academy ( sorry I'm a fanboy :p ) Thanks for any advice & info.

Take the IPSC Black Badge Course; best value for the money IMHO. Then, more importantly, compete in IPSC. The experience you get as well as all the help and advice you can absorb from the other shooters you compete with is priceless.

there are different disciplines to learn. People suggest IPSC, this would be a "sport" type pistol shooting. If you are interested in sport shooting, then look into something like that. If you want defensive pistol training, it may be hard to come across. There are things that a black badge course will never teach you, and hopefully you would never have to do anyway.
grip, stance, trigger control and sight picture. nothing moves when you shoot except your trigger finger.. and send thousands of rounds down range. it will come.

What is this sig course? I am interested in learning what ever I can in becoming a better shooter.

Sig sauer academy in new hampshire. You have to make a trip across the border. Non sigs are also accepted, you have to email them in advance. Google sig sauer academy.

On a sidenote. Snap caps are a great investment. Dry fire practice with that as well.
