Anyone out there whisky drinkers?
What are you drinkin"

Don't find it necesarry to go look up a real good single malt scotch on the internet and say you drink it, post what you honestly drink.

I really like Irish Mist and bit of decent scotch to sip. Rarely do I buy real expensive scotch, but will have a glass at a friends house.

Always enjoy Beer or Wine and cook with it whenever possible.

I regularly substitute beer for half the water in most recipes.

I'll admit, I love a good scotch. The last couple of years I would say Laphroag is my #1. It's heavy on the smoke and peat flavors and makes a fine sipper.

Currently I am nipping a bottle of Highland Park 18 year. It makes for a great contrast to Laphroag as I find it very smooth with less smoke and peat.

Lucky for my I like cheap rye, more money for ammo. Silk Tassle is great stuff. Alberta's Tangle Ridge (not cheap stuff) is really good also. For beer, I have become a huge fan of Mill Street Stock Ale out of Toronto (Hate the city but they make some awsome beer!!) Another good beer from TO is Steam Whistle.

I was over at the relatives and had a couple of shots of some kind of Alberta whiskey and was there ever tasty. Too bad I can't remember the name on the bottle.

depends. For Scotches, I like a nice peaty taste. Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Talisker are all top notch. Never really did care for the highland stuff. Alberta Springs is an excellent Rye whiskey, and I generally prefer it to bourbons and dry American whiskeys. If your after something sweet and smooth, it's really hard to beat crown royal

Brocladdie (I think that is the right spelling), one of the ones they make (Made) was called "Yellow Submarine), had to do with one of the workmen at the distilery actually netting a british sub, little yellow research type, the story is quite cool although way to long to tell here. The flavor of thier product is quite unique as it is aged in old wine casks rather than burbon casks.

I haven't tried Laphroaig or Lagavulin but Talisker is my absolute favorite for scotch, just pour it in a glass and enjoy..

Rye is another favorite but always mix it 50/25/25 with whiskey diet pepsi water, crown royal is a classic and most hotels keep it stocked when your at an all inclusive in Mexico (reminds me of home) we even found some Black Velvet at our hotel in the Dominican (Pretty sure our group drank the case that night)

I like a good single malt but when you talk about cooking I think BBQ. When it comes to BBQ it's gotta be Jack Daniels.

1 for the sauce 1 for me, beer chaser, repeat as required :D

Jack is definitely a saucey one for the BBQ.

Of the ryes, I really liked crown royal, but a few years back I lost my palate for sweet stuff and now I find it tastes very very sweet. Always rye and ginger.

Being from the rock, rum has always been a staple. Captain Deluxe and private stock with a drop of coke, yum.

I could sip on Irish mist almost all day.

As for beer. I love wheat ales, ...
I also love a little one I can't find anymore. They came in a cardboard box, 12 little bottles looked like applejuice bottles, real stubby andd the glass was green. They were called Micky's or Mikey's or Mick's, can't remember, but I loved it.

A boiler maker of guiness with Bailey's is a great sit back and enjoy. Kilkenny, mmmmmmmm!

But right out of the box, cold as a witches tit, throw me Keith's and watch out!

Hey Sealhunter, where do you live now? I'm stuck in Ontario and the only good thing I can say about it is about the beer. We can get Mickey's here and in Que. I have to say, I really like it and was very suprised to find out it was an American beer.

I just bought a bottle of the new Laphroaig Quarter Cask - DAMN, but it's good (and also picked up a bottle of czech absinth while I was at it). And it comes with a voucher for your very on plot on the isle of Islay, Scotland (1' by 1'). This plot is permanently leased to the distillery, and you can pick up your rent next time you're in the neighbourhood - one dram of Laphroaig :)

My family came from scotland to newfoundland in the 40's, nan was a warbride,...

anyhow, I have a lot of family there and will be back again in the fall for my cousins wedding at Edinburgh Castle, ..
i will be taking ina lot of the Scotch, I will be touring 3 distilleries.
Now my Nans parents, my greta grand parents, one came from Ireland and one from Scotland, so we also have the guiness in us and a fair bit of family there. Will be drinkin beers and singin' The Fields of Athenry in Ireland in the fall as well

It'll be my little ones first time over, can;t wait!!
