My kids are playing their favourite game presently: Gothic 3 made by Piranha Bytes in Germany. I must tell you, what a hunter-friendly game it is! They constantly go hunting deer, wild boar, lizards, raptors and other monsters.

This is version 3, the versions 1 and 2 did not have aiming. In this version they quickly learned how to shoot bow and crossbow at a steady and moving target, how to use elevation and pull etc.

Deer have antlers, hides and meat, the boars have tusks, hides and meat, and the rest of the monsters are all different. This is a lot of fun for just hunting in the woods, needless to say there is usual thick plot of good vs. evil...

Two thumbs up to Piranha Bytes for the years of politically incorrect, hunter friendly games! To enjoy the III fully, one would need to play I and II too, but not 100% necessary.

All hunting games are really not that great. The best one I have played was Cabelas Outdoor adventures 06, but the only problem I had, was you can literly run with the does in the game, and just a bit slower than the bucks. Once you learn how to cheat in a game it takes away most of the fun anyways. Thats why real hunting will never loose its interest.

Played Deer Hunter 2, 3, 4, 5, and Gold. Also, Cabella's big game hunter. All fun in different ways. The Deerhunter games(3 and up) had realistic ballistic tables calibrated for the ton of guns to hunt with. A very realistic hunting experience!

Gothic is not specifically hunting game, it's an RPG, where hunting is just a source of income and XP points. But their bucks have great antlers!

I've got "Ultimate Duck Hunting 3D" @ home...it's not bad but I lost interest in it pretty fast....it offers an online mood where you can duck hunt with your buddies but there's never anyone online.
