Those who have the Browning Abolt, originals, What does the Bolt do when the Safety is ON?

Since i pulled my rifle apart It seems different? but perhaps i just didnt notice it as much before hand/...........

When the Safety is ON - i can move the bolt up and down but thats it. No back and forth-

Is that normal to Yours too??

weird azz question .... i thought that before the Bolt was locked down too, when on Safe?

anyway- lemme know!

Thanks

It shouldn't move at all when the safety is on. You have to take the safety off to eject a shell.

Mate thats what i thought Used to happen!!!

Now- as mentioned Above, I can have it ON safe- Lift bolt up and Down, but it wont move backwards (as in cycle) until flicked off Safety...... i kind of like it. but it seems Wack to me , that its "changed"

With the Bolt out- i can see the 'catch Pin" moving as the Safety goes ON , which stops Bolt from coming Back..........

Whattya rekon??

If it is a center fire original series A-Bolt it should lock the bolt handle down by a small pin that rises up below the handle against the bolt body. It has another pin that rises up to hold the firing pin in place.

Thanks Rob. GReat Vid!!

WTF has happened to my Rifle then>?????

its safe in regards to it isnt Firing on Safe. nor when the Bolt is up...

what a spin out, i thought something was up!

Iffen I knew what was wrong with yer rifle bolt I woulda told you ;)
I did watch the disassembly and thought you might be able to see a few things without taking yours apart yet.
Hoping there might be something obvious while you had yours in hand with the clip playing.
Still early on a Friday night here in the western hemisphere, I am certain before long your inbox will have the answer you are looking for or someone else providing a link to the solution.
Regards,
Rob

My first thought is that the alterations to the bolt handle prevent it from being locked down. Talk to the gunsmith that altered it.

Theres only been Drilling to the Bolt handle and knob ? this cant of done any mechanical alterations ?
i dont think he even had it apart any just slammed in vice an went about drilling :)

no gunsmith about it haha

I have an Abolt and with the safety on the bolt handle can lift up and drop back down to its original position but the bolt itself is locked and cannot cycle back to open. This sounds the same as what you are describing. You may be worrying about nothing.
