a cooey question

i have an old cooey 16 ga mod 84 i am trying to restore.
what i have trouble with is when action is closed without a shell loaded it will not #### the hammer,.is that normal or is there something wrong with it.?
i replaced the barrel but old and new does same thing...
anyone can help with advice?

That sucks! I don't think that is normal because I just got a cooey 12ga model 84 and it cocks when it isn't loaded. Sorry I have no suggestions but good luck!

If the hammer cannot be cocked, perhaps the lock is not going all the way foreward. Apply some marker to the locking shoulder on the barrel, and see how far the lock is engaging.

was just going to say you might need to get out the emory cloth or a file and polish off the end of the barrel...

I had the same trouble with my 84 ...

A friend of mine has the exact same problem with his 840. Where and what are you talking about filing down?

Was having the same problem with my 84. Did what was sugested on the previous posts and the gun works like new. Thanks guys this is a great sight.
