A couple of good reads for 'hunker-in-the-bunker' weather when it's to cold to shoot outdoors.

I just finished "Winged Combat" by Arthur Bishop, son of WWI air ace Billy Bishop. A good read about being the son of a famous fighter ace while trying to be your own man. He rarely traded on his name for personal gain save when it got him and his buddies good seats in restaurants and scarce hotel rooms. From the last chapter:

"It has been my hope that what we accomplished in our flying days is not lost on the generations that have followed, despite the indifference of boards of education toward teaching Canadian military history. I am not alone among veterans who are concerned about the lack of Canadian history being taught in our schools.
To illustrate what I mean, I recommend Jack Granatstein's excellent book "Who Killed Canadian History?" In it he writes: "Canada must be one of the few nations in the world, certainly one of the few western industrialized states, that does not make an effort to teach history positively and thoroughly to it's young."

We can thank the left wing, PC crowd globalists for this travesty.

I gave up on the book after he was demob'd as it degenerated into a "who's who" of Canadian politics and big business.

I am currently reading "Elephant Company" by Vicki Constantine Croke, the story of the use of Indian elephants in the far east during WWII. These elephants were the backbone of the British teak wood industry in Burma and "Elephant Man" Billy Williams is credited with the genius to use these wonderful beasts to transport war material when no other means was possible. They helped build bridges and transported the sick and injured.

His work with the elephants was ground breaking and opened the science of studying elephant behaviour.
