I found some pmc 9mm 115 gr jhp but on the top of the box there is a sticker saying for use in rifles only. There is more available with it all being the same ammo except some of the boxes have this sticker and some don't.I beileive this is from the eighties era. There is a 9B on the end of the boxes as well.I bought this for use in a 1911 pistol but now I'm concerned about damaging my gun.Anyone remember this stuff from back in the day.I'm wondering if a heavier recoil spring would make it safe.I also have some .45 acp military from 1944.I don't think it's corrosive but wondering if anyone can confirm that. One more,i have access to a bunch of Canadian military 9mm ball from the seventies. Its marked mk 1 on the box.Is this pistol or carbine ammo?Again I don't want to use it in my pistol if its to hot.Made by ivi.I don't know how to post pics unfortunately.

Old ammo is collectable, I for one would love the WW2 .45, send me a PM if you're into it. I'd imagine you could sell or trade the old stuff for new stuff.

Ammo brought into to Canada during a certain time period, especially if it was hollow point was marked for rifles only due to some idiot mis-representing what the law actually said, use it it's fine.

There has never been .45 ACP produced that I am aware of that was corrosive.

As to the Cdn ammo from that time period, it will be slightly hotter than commercial ammo of the same period, don't use it in an aluminum frame gun but any solid steel gun will be fine. It's warm but it's not dangerous.

All Canadian IVI can be used in Browning HP or 9mm C1 SMGs. No separate ammunition trails per gun. Yes, it might seem heavy for a pistol, but the Brownings are holding up 70 years after they were made.

Just a little thing about random boxes of Canadian military ammo; very little of it was sold for surplus, so it you have any it is literally "hot". Don't worry about the Military Police dropping in unannounced, they have bigger problems than reweaving the threads to the old old story about someone fudging their ammunition declaration.

Thanks for the replies everyone.I think I'm going to keep the 45 stuff as it is kind of classic.I'm going to load up on the rest I guess before its gone. Thanks again. There was a large variety of ammo including 7.62 nato and such.Even centerfire birdshot.

How about the billions of US-made pre-war and wartime ammo???

Not recommended in a Luger .
