Great looking pieces.
+1 on P& D customer service.
Was not aware the P&D sold NF & SS scopes
Would be curious to know how much did each of the scopes set you back.

how many moa can you get with it? (the 10fp) just wondering im thinking of getting the .223 version, but i have no clue if that one has really really good accuracy or not. I know you just got it just wondering if you have gotten to try it yet?

92FS Inox,
The NightForce I purchased from T.S.E. last year for around $1800 and the Super Sniper I bought off of a buddy of mine a few years ago for about $500.

BlastingChipmunk,
Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to shoot the 10FP yet. The 110FP pictured will average between .75-1 MOA at 100 yards with Federal American Eagle FMJ. I have been too busy this summer to work up a good handload for it.

Cheers!

You've come over to the Farmboy and BUM side of the Force. I've got less slope on the base and less power in the Nightforce but other than that it'd be risky to set them down next to each other. You won't be disappointed.

I had planned on a 20 moa base but I got a good deal on the 30 moa base from a fellow CGN'r. I am very pleasantly surprised at how light and crisp the accutrigger is right out of the box! I don't know if this is the norm with Savage or perhaps a little more care is taken with the more expensive models, but I won't have to adjust anything with this rifle as far as the trigger is concerned. I just can't wait to get it out onto the range and see what she will do.

Cheers!

Very nice rigs. Like the paint job on that Choate stock.

The Accutrigger is one of the best factory triggers and that crisp break seems to be pretty much standard. They like a bit of break in and are gritty when first out of the box. Worked a few hundred times and things really smooth out nicely.

There is little issue getting the standard triggers to 2lbs and the varmint rifles to around 1.5lbs. I have heard of spring swaps that can take the trigger to around 1lb but so far haven't found the right parts.

I have yet to find a 30cal Savage/Stevens that didn't shoot the Hornady poly tipped bullets extremely well. I can suggest the 155gr Amax in the 308 and the 165gr SST or 155gr Amax in the '06.

Enjoy...

Jerry

Thank's a lot

Jerry and B.U.M.- thanks for the tip. I will pick up some Amax's and give them a try.

Sendero- It is the Ops Inc brake. I am out of town right now but when I get back home I will get a better picture of the brake for you.

Cheers!

Awesome, they should use your pic on their web site, far more better than their one pic.... only 2 questions about this nice rig... As they say on their web site, is it thrue that it reduce a LOT the recoil, i even think they say it the best on the market ??? what is your comment about that
Last one : did you turn the brake to match the barrel OR you turned the barrel to match the brake ???

Once again, VERY nice rig, excellent fit and finish also

Congratulation

Sendero,
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond to your questions, I have been quite busy lately and totally forgot about this thread.

The Ops Inc. brake does reduce recoil by a fair amount. I have one of these brakes on my Model 70 Laredo HB in 300 WinMag. Shooting 200 gr SMK's at 2950fps, the recoil is not at all unpleasant( but the muzzle blast will be for anyone shooting next to you :D ). The recoil feels similar to my 15 pound .308.

The Ops Inc brake is not the most effective one on the market, but it does a good job. Especially if you are shooting prone in the dirt (the side venting brakes have minimal dust printing).

For your last question, the brake was machined to fit the barrel.

Cheers!

Here are a couple of pics of my Model 70 with the Ops brake.
