A Couple of Shotgun Questions

Hi,

1) With the friction rings set for light load on an A5 Magnum, will 2-3/4'' 00 Buckshot have enough power to cycle the action?

2) How effective is the patterning of 00 Buckshot out of a SxS shotgun? I am planning to pattern the barrels on my older Brno SxS. For these types of guns, does shooting 00 buckshot eventually wear out the locking mechanism and damage the soldering of the barrels?

Thanks for the help.

The Browning manual for the Magnum A5 says that heavy 2-3/4" loads should be fired on the Magnum's light settings. Is 00 Buckshot considered a heavy 2-3/4" load in the A5 Magnum?

Try firing a buckshot load in a light shotgun (say a Cooey 84 single shot) and you will quickly see it is a heavy load.

They are two different guns so to speak.
While the looks appear the same, the recoil spring and friction rings don't cross over between the 2 3/4" and 3".
They may fit, but won't work appropriately.

Test your loads on the heavy setting first. If the gun doesnt cycle them, then you know you need to put the gun in the light load setting. You will not do any harm to the gun firing a load in the heavy load setting
