the government cull is goin ahead this month again after the halt in operation when the heli crashed last yr, now the 'kids' are old enough to fend for themselves the nannies will be targtted and they are hoping to leave the bulls an mature bulls alone -when they can recognise (easy done)

interesting times...certainly a few about the hills scattered though!

cheers

Very cool.
On a side note, any rumblings over the events in Christchurch leading to a firearm ban/roundup down there? Real tragedy that mess...

Well its been on the cards for a while with Firearm licensing and stuff, So id say the Registry will go ahead and Also potentially the Ban of ARs unless specified for reasons....
will take a step more like Australias Laws i can only assume!

but its evident this isnt just a Licensed firearm owners/ hunter thing, common sense may have some weight but highly unlikely...

Well, enjoy your hunt my friend. I enjoy your pictures.

Thanks mate- glad You do!
as i often say i enjoy seeing photos from Canada an places, so just givin what i can back perhaps!

awaiting on some new Boots an then back on the final hunt before the Roar, the good news is i get to hunt Rutting Fallow bucks back home in Aus during April!

il touch bac in soon

I was just watching youtube videos of guys hunting Tahr and redstag.
Kind of cool to come across this thread right after,

Cheers

Tony.

no worries.
it is kind of Cool, the days of the Tahr are just eclipsing past their hey day as the Culls are happening again this month and into this Year after it was put on hold after a chopper crash!

its pretty hard out hunting the old tahr, esp for low cost...... big efforts and a pretty unreal situation if you compare it to the world of trophy hunting or public land hunting for goats and sheep etc...

if you're thinkin about it... Do it!

ive seen a couple Canadian names in the hut books but no where near as many as i thought..

Just got to NZ yesterday after years of planning. Fishing for kingis tomorrow then to Hawke’s Bay for a pig hunt. After that we head south for chamois and tahr. Only 26 days left to hunt before I go home.

unfortunatly i was in the bush for another 4 days minimum so in the heat i couldnt of saved it from goin off, but what im goin to do is hunt another in winter to get a nice fluffy coat an have it mounted some other day, most likely!

at the time i was not aware just how big it was an certainly wasnt goin to cart out a cape for a 'average' sized bull...
hindsight, i should of made a trip out of valley into town an dealt with the cape, had i of known was a true trophy.

its about $1000 for a mount :( which isnt heaps but is a bit for me doin this all ona budget.hence the mossberg :)
